I am looking to extend my riding range. Looking for feedback from people who have fitted the IMS tank.

Any fitment issues or reliability issues? I don't care what it looks like, just if it works.

I had no issues with the IMS Tank.

I used a thick paper gasket instead of the oem rubber gasket.

Also minimal trimming of the front shrouds which u cannot go wrong. It is easy.....

Fits well! Just remember not to tighten everything till the tank and the bolts aligned well to the original fittings before tightening.

No issues with mine either

I have been debating a 1g rotopax or Ims tank.. All in one would be nice and possibly a lower center of gravity in tank but aside from that is it with the extra $200 for the task over a rotopax?

You may want to wait until Acerbis is available in May or so?

My new IMS works now fine, no leaking... no way I'd choose some rotopax etc hacks over it, this is just so easy.

Why not both?  I have a 1.75 gallon rotopax and I just bought a 1 gallon.  The 1.75 looks a little big on the back of the CRFL.  Eventually Ill get a bigger tank and then just carry the 1 gallon unless I really think I need that extra .75!!  You can definitely feel the difference in the bike when you have the 1.75 on the back rack thou, not quite as nimble.

I have the IMS Tank and my current riding style got me over 250 km per tank and I couldn't ride further than that in one stretch when I travel long distances. I would need to stretch my legs and relief the pressure on my bum.

I do have the Rotopax 1gallon too but in recent trips, I do not have to use that. I hate removing all the bungy cords, take off my luggage and top up so the IMS Tank works perfectly for travels.

The spare rotopax is for emergency I guess.

Got the IMS, What can I say, it works, the bike now has a range of 180 miles, Used the original gasket, no problem. Is it worth $250? Probably not, but I prefer to carry my fuel up front, not on the subframe.

so it looks like acerbis and Ims are both 3.1g. Is there any bigger options out there? If not is one tank better over the other or are they essentially the same?

Can't compare the acerbis / IMS, acerbis isn't on the market yet.

Im glad to see that the acerbis is atleast a little cheaper!  There already expensive enough just to add 1 gal of gas!

I totally agree. I am thinking about the Acerbis tank myself since I seldom put the RotoPax on the bike..... It seems to never be there when I think I will need it; however, other mods are taking precedence at the moment$$$

Haha yep, Iv got a 1.75 gal rotopax and I just got a 1 gal so I dont have so much weight so far on the tail and its also about the right size that it looks better on the tail.  To me the 1.75 looks kinda big on the tail so now Ill just use it if I really think Ill need the extra .75 gals hahaha.  A tank is definitely on my list but with two rotopax to choose from its not very high up.  The best thing about the tank is it would put the weight more central on the bike instead of having it hang over the rear tire.  You can definately feel a difference in the bike when you have 1.75 gallons hanging off the rear.

Nobody likes the flexible military spec fuel bladders? I got mine from Aus and its so cool, would never think of a hard container, even the bigger tank is a bit. Use up the fuel, fold it in your bag and east to strap on till you do need it. Now, if I was back desert racing................

Do you have a pic if yours?

What size rotopax fits best on the back of the crf? I have the emperor racing rack and am back and forth between tank or rotopax

I have the 1gallon rotopax and I feel it is not too bulky.

Of course , I have the IMS too......

Yeah.... the white ugly one is mine.

A recent gathering of 2 CRF250L from Singapore!

Has anyone tried mounting the rotopax to an emperor racing rack? Does it bolt right in or do you need a mounting plate?

Anyone pre-order the Acerbis tank?  http://justgastanks.com/index.php?cPath=4_12_1012

I thought that Clarke would be making one for the CRF250L by now, but so far nothing.....

I called Clark they are here in Oregon the gal said they have one in the works but would not say the size?? I've had them on my xr650L and it was nice and BIG!! I got the clearish :excuseme: one so i could see the fuel--no gauge remember?? :usa: :usa:

So I can get a 1986 cr250 motor for a good price and I also know a guy that has a 2005 crf250r that needs work. I have the idea of just swapping motors. Would this motor fit in the newer frame?
