Don't know what is wrong with yz 125

I did my top end a few days ago. For the first time. The bike is a 98 yz 125 after I put it back together it wouldn't start but it didn't start before the rebuild either. Carb has been cleaned there is spark but this morning I tried to kick it after cleaning the carb and the kickstarter stayed down and there seemed to be a lot of resistance. The lever came up but with a ratcheting clicking sound

Did you have the clutch side cover off for any reason did you pull the power valve out of it? Or just disconnect the linkage?

Didn't open the clutch cover. Didn't pull the power valve out either just disconnected it
