RMZ 450 Hot Set up database

Recommended Posts

All the other forums have a set up data base sticky. Seeing as we don't get as much traffic through the RMZ forum it is a little harder to find set up info. I will fill out the form first so that you get an idea of what goes under each category in case you are not 100% sure what goes where.

Any ways... lets try to keep the format exactly the same for everyone (which I will list below) so that it remains as easy as possible to follow. Feel free to ask any questions along the way but if you post your set up be sure keep it easy to follow.

Copy and paste this to your post and just fill in your information.

Hey bud.....do you have any issues with losing coolant using the Boyesen Water Pump?

Rider weight/ height: 205/ 6'3"

Type of riding/ class or skill level: Motocross/ Vet A

Where in the RPM range you spend the most time: Mid

Engine mods: Boyesen water pump, high pressure radiator cap

Exhaust: FMF full Titanium

Fluids, Oil/ fuel/ coolant: Rotella/ 94 octane pump gas/ Honda HP coolant

Intake: Twinair

Suspension mods: (feel free to post clicker settings, valving if you have it): Pro Circuit

Body mods: Guts tall seat, works connections skid plate, radiator braces, red radiator hoses, tm designworks chain guide complete system

Bars: Renthall Fatbar Rc/ stock Honda bend

Controls: Galfer Tsunami over side rotor, Ride Engineering brake caliber, pro taper twister throttle, works connection elite perch, Braking rear brake caliber, Raptor footpegs (awesome), hammerhead shift and brake lever

Gearing: one tooth up on rear sprocket

Tires: Michelin MH3 rear, Bridgestone 403 front (I think)

Wheels/ hubs: stock so far

Satisfaction level with the bike: handles very well. Motor is solid. Suspension is good after modifications. Loses coolant. Bike is easy to ride. Satisfied

I'm concerned that the Boyesen water pump expedites the departure of coolant. Anyone have an issue with this? I'll post a pick up when I can. I've been a honda guy for years (I have a 2006, 2012, and 2013 CRF 450 that I also ride) and wanted to try a Suzuki for a change. It's nice to have a direct comparison with the other bikes.

I just need more time on the bike

How much coolant are you losing? I wouldn't feel right about it, would be in my mind all the time. Also, being an A rider, any direct comparisons to the 13 CRF ( pros/cons)?

Intake: Removed mesh screen from cage

Suspension mods: Revalved shock and forks - no idea what valving but took a heap of shims out and now run a .98 spring, preload all the way out, oil at 310cc both legs.

Body mods: Zeta aluminium bar clamp rubber replacements (never twisted bar mounts into rubbers since), tusk chain case saver, TM designs chail slider & guide

What's good Bdubb? Well I'm pretty sure you know the year of my rmz....I put the fmf r what ever the titanium slipon on Rekluse and agent up to a 51 tooth in the rear sprocket....I replaced stock sprockets and the noisy stock chain I figured I'd personalize my bike a little with black sprockets and gold chain... The results are quite substantial the engine is completely different as it now runs smooth but angry and does not nose over at high rpms it revs something else now.
