Recommended Posts

What would anyone here want on a maxed out 300rr? What are the best parts? I'm looking at my bike and looking at ideas.. of course I won't be putting on the super expensive stuff but I like to dream right? So please post up the best 250/300 rr stuff for us to look at. I'll post up a couple of pics to start.. feel free to post your bikes with mods etc too..

Here's my used 13' 300rr bike I bought with some stuff on it.. There's some goodies on it but looking to put on more of the essentials first ..then add in order of priority and what would be of best use.  I guess the most expensive high end goodie would be the ohlins front and back on McCanneys factory bike. That's not what I'm getting but it would be on my list for the hypothetical maxed out Beta 300... or the Fox shock with valved and sprung red zokes.

I have bullet proof rear disc guard and radiator guards on the bike(came with) . I've got the headlight coming(didn't come with), red 14' plastics, seat concepts soft high seat ,radiator fan, It's got the bigger 14' gas tank & dual map ignition(came with) . I originally ordered the beta aluminum heavy duty skid plate but it didn't come in so I ordered the enduro engineerin skid plate instead. I actually like the force combo skid plate better but the price scares me a little and getting more for my money for now. Maybe I'll upgrade later. I'm using the aluminum moose racing generic pipe guard .. not into the carbon fiber.. for now.. still looking. Anyway this isn't the maxed out version but just posting for now. Right now the biggest thing is to put on a good skid plate. The stock plastic/rubber one is weak. ...

Anything to list for the hypothetical maxed out 300rr?  granted Mcanneys and Webbs are pretty much incredible but there's always more or a variation of mods not shown.

For the engine.. I like this..  not for need .. The bike works great.... but for want....and to add to the list for the ultimate 300.

Dave at Get Dirty Dirt Bikes just did a top end on his 300 with one of those domes. In his words:

The bike has new top end, S3 cylinder head with high compression dome, Scalvini pipe and FMF Q shorty. Bike is wicked fasssssssst!

That looks bad ass but sort of a waste for me unless there's a close to stock dome... then I'd like it just for the cooling.. but this is'not for me anyway!!! It's a hypothetical most tricked out 300rr anyway so yea!!! This goes on for parts of the ultimate 300rr.  I'd say this and the Boano racing Ohlins front and back like on Danny McCanneys bike.. who knows if it's really that great compared to stock or the marzochis and the Fox shock for the  Beta but that's what I'm picking for now.  I bet this Beta 300 could be a bad ass motocross bike. I haven't buzzed around a track but the handling feels excellent in present form..If it was tuned for the track I'm sure it will be an animal!! a nice handling , powerful animal. We could all ride like this.. well maybe some of us.. but I'd have to do it in my dreams. I'm saving myself for the trails..

Boano racing has some vids but the shots of the bikes aren't very long so hard to see... The McCanney bike is clearer.

See if a stock bike can do all of this.. Then we can be superhuman with the super tricked out Beta!!!..hehe.. Well no ll but it would just be cool to have a super tricked out 300..

..wish I could ride like this.. :ride:  I was looking if this bike was tricked out in any way but it looks bone stock.

Ok so I'm looking at my version of an ultimate 300rr as also an exteme enduro prepared bike.. ..just one version of this anyway ...so some hardcore protection.

..ok here's a gasgas version. I had a hard time getting the BETA version linked and from what I see Beta's version comes only in black. For $5 more on the force accessories page it comes polished..That's how I'd like mine... or a hypothetical 300rr maxed out version.

Ok for cooling it's easy.. just on the american Beta site.. Big radiators, fan, impellar.. Easy . It will be better and work well and trick.

Up close there's a clearer view of the goodies .. That podium shock and the head are easier to see.  ..Got the big radiators and the silicone hose.. no fan but it's a race bike for endurocross so no need for that.. extreme enduro I'd guess might have those.. and I'm guessing the better radiator impellar ought to be in there...along with whatever tricky good porting for the specific need.

I'm more for the tight offroad so I guess if I went this far of course a high pressure radiator cap might be added.. not sure might already come with one.. and a nicely set up coolant overflow tank.. Not for everyone  just those that deal with the overheating.. kauai hare n hound.. erzberg type... or any hard tight slow dirt riding/racing anywhere. The 300 doesn't seem to overheat much.. I did have a minor overheat the 2nd ride  but I was going real slow..   The cooling issues aren't for everyone anyway just some so these parts might not be on others list of an ultimate Beta 300. It does for me though. So this in addition to the S3 head would cover everything possible for added cooling.. Oh and maybe some water wetter Royal Purple ..or engine ice.. or 2two cool radiator additive... inline aluminum coolers?  ...ok that's all that's left I think.

probably the bestest cheapest upgrade for cooling is evans waterless coolant.

boils at 375, no corrosion. lasts life of engine. $40 a gallon.

for my 4 stroke i went with upgraded radiators and silicone hoses to eliminate

the temp gauge. stayed away from radiator guards after george observed that

dumping the bike will tweak radiators, but guards can dig in and tear them

instead.

As far as the guards go the needs where you are and where  I ride are different. The terrain is different and many times there are branches aiming at you and the radiators. Radiator guards are a must otherwise your radiators will get pierced... Pretty much everyone that rides here learns this after a while. ..and the type of radiator guards makes a difference too. You are right that the cheapest and easiest upgrade would be to go to evans.. The thing is I don't think bikes should be running that high a temperature. It's easier to run evans but I don't think it's better for your bike.. It is a lot cheaper though and easier. I am tempted at times but a bike running up a temp close to 300 just is wrong to me. For me I'll just add some mods and try to run a few mods and see if that's good enough. The water wetter, a radiator fan and an overflow tank for example seem reasonable enough to start and may be enough. That's just for me though and what I want and need here where I ride . In this instance I'm just playing the ultimate Beta 2 stroke type scenario where I'd just max out on all the best stuff.   The fox shock for example isn't a real biggie for me.. I wouldn't throw down a grand for that for my bike. My sachs shock works great anyway.. but for these purposes it's a best of everything type of scenario. Like I mentioned this extreme enduro type pack of mods for overheating isn't for everyone. It's depending on the type of racing and riding you are doing. Some don't need or want any of this.. but when you look at the pro bikes you can see there are some or many of these mods. George recently just came back from visiting some local riding. I'm sure he can fill you in that it's a bit different terrain. I'm sure he knows much better than most for your area.. That's what he does for many years and he has a great reputation for knowing his stuff.

Since I have had to set up my bikes for overheating I made a small playlist of some different mods I've found .. just for reference or for others that want to put some overheating mods.. They have a list to get ideas from. .including evans. ..and evans type coolants..

This one starts as this guy is getting ready for erzberg so it's a good first vid for dirt bike cooling...

Here's another product to try..

my rationale for evans is pretty simple... it won't transfer btu's quite as good as water..... so you run

five degrees hottter... but, when you are putting the hammer down, and it gets hot, it gets just

as hot with water, but the water will boil and steam can't carry off the heat like a liquid can... so

then you run even hotter..... the evans will still carry heat as it's still a liquid, and there isn't

pressure build up like you get when water starts to boil. so no thermal expansion like

what you need with water.

the radiator guards i was looking at, until george made the observation based on what

happens in the desert.... and as there wasn't any exchange value, i can add them at

any time if i want to.

if you wanted to stay with conventional coolant, the cycle logic engine ice is what i put

in the 'busa, and it dropped the temp a ton, even idling in traffic when it's hot and the

fan would normally be running.

I understand the concepts .. believe me. Want to see how much? Just put a search on TT for boiling overheating ktm beta rfs cr 250 honda. Then you'll see how many overheating threads I've been on looking for better solutions. I've been fooling with this for years. To me the idea is to keep the temps cooler. ... and that is with water or a modified water mix. I've puked engine ice out of my bike a pile of times..and a whole bunch of other "coolants" too... That alone just doesn't cut it. I can't explain to you because you don't ride where we do here. Every place is different. Like I said some places might need mods like these and some places don't.

I'll give you an example of some vids locally.. still you can't tell unless you are riding it.  This is our last poker run at our local riding park. Watch for awhile and then go to 3:20.. It's common enough. The riding is different in different places for different races on different terrain .

Here's another thing... American Beta is selling these things anticipating riders needs. They could sell evans like Zipty does too.. actually they should for those who want like you do. Some use evans locally too. I just don't like running high temperatures consistently on my bike. I'd rather the bike run as cool as possible for as long as possible.

Here's some of what I ride . Here's my youtube channel so you get an idea....since I'm putting vids.. might as well . The guy above is a good vet rider that shoots some fun vids..He's part of a bigger gang of friends that have ridden for years. He has some fun vids.

Here's part of my first ride on my 300.. great bike.
