Recommended Posts

Hey

I have KTM sx 250 02 and i have electric problem

is no spark

i checked the stator and the coil, both ok.

I check the CDI and saw part number ( 54739031200 )

When i check the owner book, there two CDI unit that can match this bike

54739031200 *CDI BOX CU7423 300/380 '98 (have this)

and

54639031800 * CDI BOX 250 EXC\SX 2002

How can i check the CDI unit?

Should buy the other CDI that match my bike? (54639031800 )

Did you check the kill button ? Ive had several go bad through the years. Also , unplug and check all electrical connections. I have an 02 250sx that has always hated water. If id powerwash it and get water under the tank,id have to tear it apart and spray the connections with wd40 . I finally got smart and put dielectric grease on all connections. Maybe it could be your problem. Ive not had cdi box issues with any of my ktms.

A CDI unit can be tested with an OHM meter. Any shop can do that for you and probably any mechanic. Do you know anyone with a bike that shares your CDI unit? If so swap it out real quick and you will know for sure. Sounds like you have eliminated everything else though.

Only KTM parts warehouse is responsible for parts and you cant call they. you can try with never, no answer.

just to send fax with part number, when you ask nice "CDI unit for KTM 250sx 02" the answer with "only with a part number!!!"

Unfortunately this is KTM is Israel....  :lame:

I wish for it so easy....

But they want only part number

Call a KTM dealer over here in the US. Have your serial number handy and they should be able to tell you which one. The CDI is different due to no lights and less power needed on the MX model vs the XC.

But I am telling you, any mechanic could test that CDI. A CDI unit is either working or not and it's simple to test them.
