My kid bought a KM100 and needs help getting it going.

Recommended Posts

Last Fall my son got a 74 KM100 and it ran. He seemed to run down his plug, so I took him and got some NGK's and told him to keep extra plugs with him. He loved it! I think it's a great bike for him to learn the basics on, he's 14. He saved up money to buy this. Fast forward through a really harsh winter, and a damaged boot. We got a new boot today, and he put it on right. The bike won't start. I want to get this thing going sweet for him, so when he gets older, he can ride it on the road. It just needs the lights and speedo and he should be in business.

Can someone please give some further guidance on what he can do?

Thanks!

Pull the carb, dismantle it, get a rebuild kit, and start treating your gas with stabil for ethanol poisoning.

Also, you have to rebuild two stroke motors every 100-200 hours.

You have a 40 year old motor, so the chance of something not being completely worn out are zero.

It ran great last fall, and I think it has good compression.  We ran the fuel out of it last fall.

Running the fuel out leave 50+ cc of gas in the carb, which turns into slime and corrosion.

You have to drain the carb by removing the float bowl drain or cover.
