XR 600r Carburetor HELP!

Recommended Posts

Help.  I recently bought a 1986 xr 600r to follow my 9 year old son around on and also to day dream about doing Baja type races with him on.

I read on some old posts that when taking the carburetor off it was necessary to use some force.  I follow directions well.  I did use force and broke both spots where the dual carbs connect.

1. Can I find another carburetor?  No luck yet..... any suggestions?

2. Am I stupid to think I can glue them back or get 2 small reinforcement pieces epoxied or somehow bonded to that soft metal that will allow me to to "professionally" rig it????

What exactly broke?

Generally if you find yourself using much force on anything, it's an indication you need to rethink how you're working on it.  Removing the air box bolts and shifting the box rearward slightly lets the carbs come out with far less drama.

Taking the 2 screws out helps too. Then replace them with allens. Best to remove the intake manifold with the carbs till you add the allen screws. Carb/bodies on ebay.
