engine stalling

ON A 09 450 XC-F IT WILL STALL JUST IDLING IN GEAR WHEN STOPPED INTERMITTENTLY.JETTING APPEARS GOOD.CLUTCH AND THE WHOLE MACHINE HAVE LOW EASY HRS. ON IT.CRANKING UP THE IDLE HELPS.WAS WONDERING ABOUT A FLY. WEIGHT. HOW DO THESE PARTICULAR MACHINES RESPOND TO ONE?

Idle speed is too low. Increase slightly for in gear idle speed

I agree. Many KTMs like a little higher idle.

Had the same problem recently on my '08. Tried raising the idle but it would still stall. For $hits and giggles I checked my clutch fluid level and I was low. Can't explain it - bike was fine the day before, found no leaks and it's been just fine since. What prompted me to check the master was that the lever pull also seemed lighter. Just something to check if all else fails. Good luck.

yea something i have noticed is that the clutch seems to drag a little bit for the first 5-10 minutes of running.after that its fine rest of the day.kinda thought it was the 10w-60 oil, or maybe now the hydraulic's.

10w60 seems a bit heavy in my opinion. I've tried a few different brands and viscosities and I've had very good results with 5w20 Mobil1. Mineral spirits ONLY in the master cylinder.

Dont look at the oil, its fine, i use 10w60.

Your just not gettin enough air and fuel into the chamber.

The clutch draggin is normal for the old bikes

mineral spirits...........there are two basic types of oil- mineral and vegetable...motors and the Magura clutch use mineral oil-vegetable oil is for cooking or No Toil air filter oil.

my sons routine that works is let it idle for a couple minutes.shut down.wait 3-5 minutes and restart.clutch drag is 50% less. after riding for a few miles the stalling is 99% better.

I have a 13 350sxf I need to let the bike warm up for at leasts 5 minutes or when I put it in gear with the clutch lever pulled all the way in it will lurch forward and stall. Once the bike is warmed up and riden its fine. Driving me nuts!!!

I have an 09 450sxf, it will stall out also when on slow singletrack , if it becomes an issue,i reach down and bump idle up. A mech at a local race shop said it isnt flameout , its engine rpm dropping so low that the auto decompressor kicks in . Makes sense to me .
