My 300 xc-w topped out last season at 142km/h (88mph) with 13/49 gearing on hardpack...running 13/52 this season.....tops out at 131km/h (81mph).

My son's kx-125 topped out last season at 107km/h (66mph) with 13/50....this year he's running 12/53 and haven't clocked him......but I can kill him with 3rd gear only in a drag race....lol

Why the interest in top speeds?

I hit 797.88582731206250255324mph today!

COS(latitude)*Earth circumference/24 hours

COS(40.0066)*(25000/24)=797.88582731206250255324mph!

Or if you want to get technical,

Earth rotates about the sun at ~940 million km/hr or 584088920 miles
8760 hours/yr

(584,088,920mi/hr)/8760=66676.81735159817352mph

66676.81735159817352+797.88582731206250255324=67,474.70317891023602255324mph!

It's kind of a moot point. Almost any bike will go a lot faster if you gear it up. Then it will suck everywhere. Stock 250-450 MX dirtbikes go 60-70ish.

I thought I read somewhere that my 2011 CRF 450R would top out at 85mph with stock gearing? Not sure but would be curious to know.

The guys I motard race with, all speeds were taken through the speed trap at Phillip Island. SXV 550 204kph, YZ450F 197kph, TE477 182kph, my DRZ 180kph. Not one of those bikes is stock!

30mph in the woods, nothing will catch you and that's about as fast as i have gone down a trail, Im sure most of you have gone way faster and remember they can set up a road block, we got the green lane option
