2 YZ 85s Jetting - 2 bikes -1 spoogy 1 perfect ?.

Recommended Posts

I have two YZ85s. A 2009 and a 2010. They are both stockers. The only difference between the jetting is the airscrew. The 2010 airscrew was set at 1 3/4 turns out and the 2009 was 2.5 turns. Main, pilot, float height were the same. The 2010 is crisp and seems likes it has a little more power and the tailpipe is clean. The 2009 runs fine but spooges like crazy. It runs down the silencer and is a mess. I have been running plugs 1 heat range hotter on both machines.

The only thing I haven't done is a compression test. The 2009 has way less hours than the 2010. Both stock original motors. The compression does feel a little stronger on the 2009. I'll do a test in the am on both machines

Any ideas why ?

Crank seals on the 2009 spoogy one ? It has way less time on it than the 2010. The 2010 is burning clean. I just did a compression test on both. The 2009 was 155psi cold and the 2010 was 150psi. Strange
