Piston ? for 2006 250f

Recommended Posts

We all know that a 2008 oem piston is a cheap upgrade on the older bikes, but has anyone tried running a 2012 piston, it is 13:5:1 aswell but the piston and wrist pin are lighter I was just curious as I'm about to refresh the bike again and want to know if this is possible

Well, I'm one of those that do not know. Can you elaborate? I have an 06 wr250. Thx

The 2007 and older yz250f and I believe all years of the of the wr250 came with a factory compression ratio of 12:5:1 the 2008 and newer yz250f have a 13:5:1 from the factory so a lot of guys run an oem piston from an 08 in the older bikes Edited by yzdude250f

Not to hijack, but if I'm understanding I can put an 08 piston/rings in my 2005 and I'd be pushing a little more power?

Yes you can run a 08 in your bike the compression ratio is higher, you can also run a 12 piston it's high compression and has a lightweight wrist pin and piston.
