If anyone wants a really sweet 400

Recommended Posts

Clean looking bike Mindblower. Good luck with the sale.

Been considering selling mine too. Not because I'm not getting out, I'm just not riding the XR. Been a year.

Yeh, it's been sitting too many years already. The guy I bought it from didn't ride it much. around his farm a few times a year. I've taken it to the trails 3 or 4 times in past 3 years.

5 hr drive one way to get to anything decent and I have 3 other plated dual sports.  It sits......... and it's way too capable a bike to be sitting! Somebody going to get a gem.

You can't get them plated where you live?

Yes you can.  The dream on was a plated, cherry, pumper carbed, suspension done 400 for $2500. :)

Plating is basically free if you are crafty. I would buy that bike in a heartbeat if it was closer.

Nope. You pay all appropriate taxes including back taxes and sales tax if the bike wasn't registered previously.

And the normal plate fees, registration and title creation.

And that's After you paid for the parts.................

I guesstimate $600-700 to plate this bike.

Or I would have done it to sell it.

Turnsignals, horn, mirrors, taillight, actuators, wiring harness, speedo (Tusk kit $179+headlight), Sales Tax, registration fees, etc etc

In WA I can plate any bike for less than $100

Its different in every state. My bike would no longer be "road worthy" if I crossed state line into IN. I'd have all kinds of equipment tickets and fines! Lol! Good luck with the sale, its a clean bike and looks great. You'll get a good offer soon.

My 2003 XR4 is plated. In CA

The point was that you couldn't buy a done clean plated bike for $2500.

Not that it couldn't be done.

;)

Once properly equipped, bikes are cheap/easy to plate in WV as well.  Did my XR250, next is the XR400 and CRF230.

Good Luck with the sale!
