Yz250 crankshaft oil seals

Recommended Posts

I recently got my bearings and seals in and sweated the bearings in and pushed the seals in. One didn't go in to good and that was on the clutch side so I lightly tapped it in with washer and a hammer. Put the edges kinda got torn up. And im not sure if I should trace it or not. Any help wpuld be appreciated!

Is that looking from the inside of the case......to the outside?

Should have used a bearing driver, or large socket. A washer and a hammer prob wasnt the best choice....i would replace it, if it was me.

Are the seals installed the correct way around? I only ask that as I can't see the entire case from a distance.

You would use a socket of the right size and lube the seal with a little grease. Tap it very lightly until it seals home.

The socket or preferably seal driver as mentioned above, needs to be slighty smaller than the hole you are fitting the seal into.

Can you post a pic of the cases from a distance.

How do you plan on installing the crank. Thermal fit or press fit?

Kind regards

Seals go in after the crank.  You can knock them in with whatever you have laying around.  Just do it evenly.
