250 2stroke to rmz450

Recommended Posts

So In a few hours I'll be selling my 98rm250 2stroke. With the money I'm going to get 13' rmz 450. Is this a good move? I'm a bigger rider and love power so I guess it's time to make the move to a bike that can hold me. I mean once I set the 450 suspension for me it'll be great right??? Below is my 250.ImageUploadedByThumper Talk1398703397.237176.jpgImageUploadedByThumper Talk1398703410.770729.jpgImageUploadedByThumper Talk1398703354.785836.jpg

you will love it, good move getting suspension setup, stock the rmz450 needs a bit of work in that area.

ive had 125, 250, 250f, 450f, heck ive had three of them on the track in the same day. You wont have a problem. I race moto only im 200lbs and i found the front brake horrible on the rmz450 after riding my 05 rm250 with 270mm rotor. If you race i would consider a 270-280 front brake.

That's what I've heard, but I hear the suspension is total garbage until you fit it for you. Plus finding a cheaper 12' or 13' is super hard. There is only one in Colorado (12) for 5k with 52hrs on the meter.( so he says)

I came off a 97 rm250 and the 450 is totally another beast. Suspension wise you have to tune it cause off the showroom floor its bad. Really harsh. I got mine to work pretty well stock. Powerwise compared to the rm is night and day difference. The only area that I liked my rm250 better was in super tight terrain.

A bone stock 12 is an incredible bike. The suspension is really good for a fast B rider. It can get tiring after a while but I never trusted a set of stock forks like that in all my years riding.

I wish I had a fresh 12 in storage to roll out after my current steed gets sent out to pasture.
