what better time to learn than now?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I dont frequent this Sub forum as often as others but! i have a 98 kx250 and Need to rebuild my shock. i have done many a set of fork seals and bushings through work and on my own bikes, and have many different styles down. i'd really like to avoid a 100+ dollars of having someone do it for me and would really like to do it myself. i know topics such as this have been posted before, but i'd like to have a place i can go to hold my hand through any questions or concerns i may have, there will be pics, and there will more than likely tears
i have a service manual from Kawasaki for my bike that has pretty decent instructions for tear down and re assembly, only thing i am in a fog about is what kind of suspension fluid to use, it suggests belray se2 #40 or the kyb oil, what would that translate to in say a maxima fluid?

and in advance, thank you to everyone that decides to join in and laugh point and maybe help ;)

You can use a 2.5wt to 5wt most prefer the thinner oils but a lot of manuals state 5wt

alright first question, never tried valving or anything of the sort, but if i wanted to plush it up even in the slightest (not going to try right now) how would i tackle the task? where would i acquire new shims etc?
