If you are the original owner and have never touched the carb to tune it, boy have you been missing out.

The best tip anyone can give you is to read up on and gain an understanding of jetting and tuning, then put that understanding to use. It does you no good for people to tell you to do this or that and you still have no clue as to why.

You apparently have the insight to know that the bike isn't running its best, that's a good sign.

Your jetting may be fine, could be just the air screw needs fine tuning. You didn't give any info on what part of the throttle range you find lacking, so start with tuning the air screw.

Here's some good reading to gain an understanding of it all. Look at the very bottom for tips on tuning the pilot system/air screw.
