CRF50 wont start?

Recommended Posts

my buddy bogged his 2002 big bore CRF50 in some mud last fall it died and wont start?

I am not much of a 4 stroke guy but am very mechanical and grew up on 2 stroke.

It will kick over normally and smooth 3 to 4 times with no fire then it is really hard to kick over for 1 to 2 kicks like a motor that is starting to seiz then it frees up and kicks smooth for another 3 to 4 then goes tight again?

Could this symptom be related to the clutch/transmission or do you guys think the motor is toast?

Thanks, MC

If your friend sucked in water or mud, then left it in the garage for half a year without making sure he flushed the motor, then he's a regular genius. Drain the oil just to see what it looks like. I'd be willing to bet everything inside that motor is rusted.
