stripped bolt

Recommended Posts

today I was installing a brush guard over my front sprocket ... put those who are familiar it is two bolts one on top and one on bottom that go directly into the engine case . the bottom bolt was fine but unfortunately the top bolt was stripped out ... does anyone have any tips for how to fix this ?I have heard two options one go to a machine shop and have them re threaded and to put a helicoil in it ?

I feel the best DIY option is a Time Sert

A Heli Coil will work as well.

Drill and tap it to a slightly bigger bolt???

I am not sure what a maching shop will do but it will probably be the most expensive route

+1 for timesert. You'll end up with a thread stronger than what it was before.
