89 cr250 top end issues

Hey the other day i was riding my 89 cr250 then it went brrr brrr clunk and stopped i tried kicking it over and it just wouldn't go so i pulled the head of it and the piston and cylinder head were ruined the piston and bit of the ring snapped off which caused the damage but i was wondering why this happened i reckon it was because it leaned out but i can't thing were my mixture was perfect but i did foul a plug that day to  So i was wondering if any of you blokes had any smart ideas20140421_165751.jpeg20140421_165820.jpg

Your piston and ring broke because  the piston and bore are worn beyond specification and you needed to bore the piston and put a new top end in. I doubt that was just a worn piston that finally broke.

 

I would suggest you have the cylinder measured and plan on getting it bored and putting a new top end in. I would also check the condition of the connecting rod and check the bottom end for any fragments of the broken piston.
