wr250f compression test result help

Recommended Posts

hi thumpertalkers.

i have a 2005 wr250f and i bought myself a compression tester yesterday.

when i plugged it in i hit the electric start to check reading i got about 60 psi

then i did a wet test and got 70psi then i thought ill try kicking it over.so i kicked it over for around 15 times but every time i kicked it over i kicked it by building maximum resistence on the kickstarter and i got 140psi.

so my question here today to yall is that should i kick it over normally without finding maximum resistance or was what i did the correct way.

And also what is a good reading on the wr250f's

NOTE i did have WOT on all tests. thanks in advance.

That engine has an auto-decompressor, you can't perform a traditional compression test without disabling it. You need to perform a leak-down test.

i did a leak down test already and i got that result

That's not a leak down test, it's a compression test.

In a leak down test, you add pressurized air into the cylinder and measure the rate and percentage of pressure loss.
