Can anyone tell me how to get the spring off of the shock on a 2010 crf250r

You need to separate the bottom perch, it is 3 pieces if you count the lock ring. To do this loosen the collar until there is no tension on the spring. Flip the shock upside down and hold the center of the lowere perch constant while tapping the outer ring down with a hammer to expose the lock ring. Spread the ring and remove it. The outer ring will now slide off the bottom of the shock.

Thanks for the replies.  The problem I was having is that because the shock spring had probably never been removed before the two pieces were seized together.  Even after I relieved the spring tension the pieces didn't seperate, so I wasn't sure if the shock for 2010 was different.  I needed to use a rubber mallet to seperate them.

Soak the seam with penetrating oil. Mine was also seized, it took more than a rubber mallet.

Whatever you do DO NOT unthread the clevis from the bottom of the shock shaft.
