Quick question

Recommended Posts

Im about to take a couple things apart on my bike give it a little clean and maintenence also put some unabikers on, case savers, new chain and sprocket, mrd ssw, jets and 3x3, and hyde skid plate itll probably take me about a week to do everything. My question is should i give it an oil change before or after? (I already got the tt oil change kit) Also anyone have any advice installing any of these? I have everything i need i think except possibly an exhaust gasket. I have an 05 s model hoping everything installs easy, already have a little trouble with the skid plate, just lined it up to see if it would be easy and the stock header was kinda in the way but hopefully ill get it on

I would do an oil change after everything else. I don't think doing it before or after would really make a difference but that is just how I would do it.

I would change the oil first so you're not fighting to change your oil with a skid plate in the way (or dropping a bolt between the skid plate and bike - lol).

Unabiker radiator guards - there are two "support" bars that are on the back side of the radiator get the inside bolts tightened down first. Then remount your radiators and then finish with the outside Allen screws for the supports bars.

I'd do the oil change before you put that skid plate on. It's really hard to work with. I just bought and installed the Hyde. Really like it, but as I said in another thread, I hope I never have to take it off 'in the wild'. Fixxin' to do an oil and filter myself. Will prolly take the skid plate off to do it. I can only assume the oil will go all over the top of the skid plate if I leave it on.
