99 Cr 125 intake modifications.

Recommended Posts

I've been told the 98-2002 engines are starved for air and that is one of the reasons for their lack of performance when compared to the other 125 engines. Has anyone tried out the 2005-2007 intake boot with 1/2" holes drilled in the airbox? One of my friends who races and rode my bike made this reccomendation, it does sound reasonable and economical so I'm going to give it a try sometime. Has anyone else used this mod or heard something similar to this?

Also is the #7 item in this schematic the proper item I'm looking for? I believe it is, but I'm not 100% sure. http://www.servicehonda.com/parts/lookup#/Honda/CR125R_A_%2807%29_MOTORCYCLE%2c_JPN%2c_VIN%23_JH2JE013-7M900001/AIR_CLEANER/CR125R-07-JPN-A/2Y14KZ42KZ48F1400AA

I ordered an intake boot from the 2005-2007 CR125 and unfortunately it's not compatible with my 1999. The 98-99 Boot has a split on the flange and doesn't require a gasket, the boot from 2005-2007 that is compatible with the 2000-2004 boot uses a gasket in the air box and has slightly different hole placement. So heads up to anyone with a 98-99 don't try to perform the mod in this article : http://twostrokemotocross.com/2009/05/budget-racer-2001-honda-cr125/
