Ktm throttle tube adjustment help

Recommended Posts

I noticed this past weekend that there is a lot of play in my throttle tube before the carb even opens up, and its really annoying because it was a little harder to get the power to the ground quicker. I noticed on a friends stock throttle tube on a 2011 ktm 250 xc that there is no leigh way or slack in his throttle tube whatsoever and i was wondering if any of you guys knew how to fix this problem. Its a 2014 ktm 200 btw.

Follow the cable into the throttle on the bars. Pull the rubber boot back. Cable slack is usually taken up at that fitting. Loosen the jam nut and unscrew the fitting out of the throttle housing a little at a time while checking throttle play until you only have about 1/16" play. Be sure you still feel/hear the carb slide positively slam shut when closing the throttle. Retighten the jam nut.

BTW, this is normal the cable will stretch with use and you may need to adjust once or twice a year to remove the slack with the adjuster.
