Short shift lever

Recommended Posts

Anybody know where to find a shorter shift lever? Since I put the fast ways on and I ride the back of the pegs anyways the factory length shift lever is about a inch too long. I've been searching and Havnt came up with anything. I modified my brake lever the other day and that worked out Great but I really hate to go cutting up a good shifter.

The Hammerhead shift levers can be sized at the tip. I have one and I love it. Here is a link to the shift tip sizes. http://www.hdmoto.com/Articles.asp?id=132

It looks like -5 is the shortest the Hammerheads go. Check this thread out post #14  http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/1007336-picked-up-my-13-crf-finally/

It sounds like the '13 shifer is a lot shorter. I wonder if it would work?

Here is a OEM shifter at a cheap price if you wamma take one for the team LOL http://www.ebay.com/itm/13-CRF450R-CRF450-Shifter-shift-gear-lever-184-9961-/201083088142?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2013|Model%3ACRF450R&hash=item2ed17c6d0e&vxp=mtr

What year are you riding? I believe the new gen 450's have shorter shifters than 08 and older. Measure some different models 450 and 250 and make sure the bend will clear the case cover, you may find one that can work from a different bike. Visit a bike salvage shop and you can pick one up cheap.

Had the opposite issue on the stock Honda when switching from Yamaha.  Boots just didn't fit and didn't need unwanted downshifts. Hammerhead tips come in 0.5" increments and different widths. I ended up with the longest one with the shortest width to get the tip out and away from my boot tip.  You may want the opposites setup.

Good luck.
