Brake Pads

Recommended Posts

Ive had my 2013 for about a month now, and have noticed a lot of brake fade after a few successive nose wheelies / stoppies.  Ive upgraded to HEL stainless lines, but now Im thinking the OEM organic pads are not good for this type of abuse.

What do people here use?  Ive seen a number of brands of pads out there available for the DRZ, but whats the best?  EBC, Motomaster, Braking....

The stock pads should be sintered (IIRC) and are considered to be pretty good.  I would start with replacing the brake fluid with a quality DOT 4 racing fluid like ATE TYP200 or Super Blue, Motul RBF 600, AP Racing, etc...

Are you riding a SM, S or E?  Consider upgrading to a big-brake kit.

Fluid was replaced with Motul dot4 when I did the SS brake lines. It's a 2013 SM with just under 1k km on it. I read the OEM pads were organic not sintered

I came from a Husky 610 with a brembo 4 pot front so I'm used to a bit more clamping force. Maybe I will have to up it to a 320mm rotor and the brembo kit
