65-70 mph.

Recommended Posts

XR650L. Probly a noob question, but at 65-70 am I running on the main jet alone? bike seems to get hot. I put a slip on and went from 50/152 to 55/155 with a .020 shim under needle. Before I did any of that it seemed to get hot just putting around in the woods. The oil tank in the neck would get too hot to touch. It runs ALOT better/cooler with the slip on and bigger jets until I have to get on freeway. even though im at 1/4-1/3 throttle scootin down the highway its still on the main jet right?

I'm guessing there is a Honda forum that would have some good suggestions for jetting.  I'm thinking a different needle might be necessary.  It's an air cooled bike so it's going to throw out some heat, please don't tell me your riding in shorts.

Yep, that is XR650l normal. You will not fix that with jetting, most add an oil cooler. I added one to mine but have not run it enough to speak about the results yet. Other choice is send your head to XRSOnly and they weld on larger fins.

Many do nothing, and the bike does fine.
