yz125 Help. Kick Starter

Recommended Posts

Sometime during my ride today, my kick starter broke.  But I don't know exactly what broke.  I started the bike a few times throughout the ride and one of those times I just noticed it was broken.  Here are some pics.

You can see here how it is supposed to sit when folded in.

But now after today it looks like this.

This is as far forward it will go in it's travel.  It also still starts fine and returns with a positive action.

Through a little research, I think it might be that a stopper piece of the kick starter shaft has broken off or possibly the spring became unseated from its retainer.  bike is a 2002 yz125

Has anybody experienced this before?  I need to fix it ASAP.  Thanks.

Pull that side cover. Most likely all you need to do to change it out unless somehow your casing inside cracked.
