DRZ 400 Battery Leak

Recommended Posts

I read through several of the forums on tracing down battery drain on the DRZ 400. If I let my bike sit for more than 3 or 4 days the battery is completely dead. Workaround is to leave the tender connected but this isn't solving my problem it's a simple work around.

Testing:

With the positive cable connected I disconnected the negative cable then connected a light between cable and terminal and it lit up. I began to disconnect every connection on the bike that I could find with no luck. I then disconnected the CDI and the light went out. When I plug the input from the battery side back into the CDI the light comes back. I also unplugged the output and left the input into the CDI and the light remains on.

Is it possible I have a bad ground on the CDI and need to pick up a new one?

Thanks,

Gunny

Im not sure what the acceptable drain is on the DRZ, some bikes its 1 or 2 milliamp, for clocks and such. I assume you have ruled out the battery itself.
