brake failure on my 300XC

Recommended Posts

Everytime I put my bike up for more than 1 to 2 months the front and rear brakes loose prime & it takes forever pumping on them to get any braking back. The fluid levels are good and I have bled the system before. Has anyone got any suggestions other than don't stop riding the bike....lol.

When's the last time you changed out the fluid?

Sounds like you are trying to bleed the air out from the top to the bottom, use a syringe and back bleed the system to ensure all the air bubbles are removed.

tie the front lever to the bar with a zip tie the nite before. Turn the bars so the right side is the high point. This way most of the bubbles will rise up and it will work good. The rear tends to get a bubble stuck in it so it is harder to deal with.

KTM brakes have done this like  forever.  Here's my routine.  IF the brake is soft, I grab the front tire with both hands and place my knee on the brake cylinder, then press real hard forcing the caliper away from the shoe.  Pump up the brake and it should come back.  Same for the rear.
