Post up a pic of your former bikes

Taught me self how ride about 4 years ago with this one,  CRF150F

crf4.jpg

Learned how to shift and ride,  sold that and bought a CRF230F to have more power.

trail2.jpg

The 230 was one of the funnest bikes ever,  very light and capable,  tried to make it street legal but Cali was not having it...

Sold that and bought a Yamaha XT250

xt4.jpg

Great bike,  just not enough power,  test rode me neighbors DRZ and it was over,  the DRZ was twice as strong as the XT,  so sold the XT and bought a DRZ.

neighbors DRZ test ride.

xt250.jpg

I need to NOT try a faster stronger bike,  lol

Those CRF''S are great bikes. Very reliable. Ive got a sweet 230 also that I traded for some cabinet work. Good trail bikes. My buddy Tom bought a new 09 xt 250 and rode it as a commuter 110 miles a day! Very dependable and loved the low seat height. Im not a brand snob...I love em all!

Yeah. That was my 82 yz490 restored from ground up. My buddy was first to ride it and steering stem wasn't yet tightened. Lol. Needless to say, when he poured the coals to it the bars took turns slapping him on the legs. Lol. Hilarious to watch but he was petrified. Those things were no joke. The xr650L I bought new. Pretty much complete transformation. Threw alot of money at it and still didnt feel it was right for me. I enjoy working on them and farkling them up almost as much as riding them.

+1.....I also had a '82' YZ490 build from the ground up.  I bought it with a blown motor so I put my spare YZ465 motor in it, that bike was set up for ice.

07 BMW g650 x moto. By far the most fun bike around town and for decent highway trips. Tons of power for a supermoto and fantastic suspension and grip. I wanted something better for commuting farther and i ended up trading it for a 06 GSXR600. Toons of fun, very fast and surprisingly comfortable on the highway.  The downsides were that i rode like an idiot(600's BEG to be revved, hehe) and it was rather boring for the riding i do.. I can see myself owning a 600 as a track bike, but for the street it's just ridiculous and highly unnecessary despite being extremely fun.  Got the desire to get a dual sport after my buddy's got some and i missed trail riding since i sold off my dirtbike and quads so i traded in the gixxer for my DRZ and well here I am.

Over the 25 years that I have been riding and have owned bikes I have never actually taken a picture of one except for the DRz. Sad but I have nothing but the best memories from my bikes. My father bought me my very first street legal bike when I was 9 or so and it needed to be rebuilt. Told me I couldn't ride anymore bike until this thing ran. Took me a whole summer to get her going. But it was the most amazing feeling when I was able to kick it over all by myself and take a ride to my girlfriends house and pick her up for a ride to the dam for a swim. It was also the first bike that I evaded the local smokeys on.

Why did the XR Expire ?

no idea, had it for few months,,

it was super hot 110+ degrees, we went out and ran them hard, on way home it shot out a huge cloud of white smoke for like 100yards..then had less power.(this happened within 1st month)

did oil change,

was now burning through oil like crazy. like 1/4-1/2 quart of oil every tank of gas(150miles)

took it to shop, quoted 2500$ to repair engine(i said f that, i was broke), they said it had 0 compression and they coulndt get it started..

went n picked it up, started it, rode it.

about 3 months after that it seized 1 block from house..only in 2nd gear luckily

sold it to a younger guy who wanted a project for $1000 as is
