2007 crf 230 jetting

Recommended Posts

Hi ive been looking to give my 230 a little more kick and am interested in removing the exhaust and intake baffles and redoing the jetting. Is this a good idea? I also wanted to know if I would be able to do it myself. Is it any harder on the engine? Thanks let me know

No, removing the exhaust is never a good idea. Too much noise, but I guess if you don't have people around that care.......not to mention that removing the spark arrestor that's usually part of the baffle isn't a good idea either.

Most people with any smarts in mechanical stuff and working with their hands can do the mods.

There's a point tho, where removing too much back pressure on the engine with exhaust mods and increasing flow makes power worse, depending on the throttle range you're wanting power in.

Its the back pressure on the engine that the designed-in amount of exhaust restriction provides that makes low end torque and snap.
