Husqvarna 450 leaking carb/ poor vacuum

Recommended Posts

My SMR 450 Husky starting cutting out under low rpms and being a pain to start until eventually it cut out and refused to start. After having a prod around and checking various components, the carb was selected for the beasting. It was taken off, cleaned extensively and put back, bike fired up and ran. However I only got as far as about a mile when I noticed it was leaking, I didn't want to risk running it in case the poor vacuum caused itself to block again or something.

I've attached a picture and circled where it's leaking from, it's just below the inlet to the airbox so as the rubber of the airbox sits over the lip, it comes out from under the rubber and it's a pretty fast leak, constant stream as opposed to a drop.

Any ideas or help? sealant, gasket or new carb?

Replaces some breathers and it doesn't seem to be leaking any more, the local go to guy for single cylinders said the reason for cutting out might be because the valve clearances need doing? Sound about right?
