Springs only or revalve

Recommended Posts

Hi, i just bought a 09 kx250f with pro action susp, i was told it was setup for a 160lb b class rider for mx, my question is: to get it to work better for me can i just go with stiffer fork and shock springs and maybe heavier weight fork oil, or do i have to go with a revalve? I am about 250lbs, 6'2" 49 yrs old, used to race mx when i was younger, i can still do some doubles and i still think stutters are fun, lol

Thanks for your help!

Exactly what he said. I was finally able to dig into the technical side of what this means and, to make a long story short, you really need to get springs and have your valves re-shimmed.

For example, Race Tech recommends  .443 kg/mm springs for a 160-ish pound motocross rider and a spring rate of .507 kg/mm for a 250 lb 45+ year old trail/woods rider. You can tinker with your research here: http://racetech.com/ProductSearch/1/Kawasaki/KX250F/2009

You dont need to spend all the money for Race Tech but you should get the work done. I am currently having mine redone by 812 Suspension Designs and, this is already after having Pro-Action supposedly work on them. If you are serious about riding a well balanced bike, you should definitely consider 812... http://www.812suspensiondesign.com/

YMMV
