XR250 shim stack, 400 forks or USD?

Recommended Posts

Which way do I go. I don't mind the work involved in the CRF USD conversions but have read a few times they are too long and yokes can interfere with the tank. For green laning and the odd Enduro practice track what's the recommended route. Is a set of CRF450X forks that much better than a pair of shim stack modded 400 forks?

There's not anything magical about USD forks. Yes they are much better than untuned stock XR forks. What aren't?   ;)

I have tuned XR 400 forks and USD CRF forks and they are totally comparable.

USD are longer and rake the front end out more. More stable, doesnt' turn as well. Best suited for high speed offroad stuff.

Makes a dual sport very good on road IMO.

Tuned XR forks better for tight woods, lower speed more technical stuff.

JMO and lots of what I read here too.

Do what's cheapest and easiest, or suits your riding style. (don't know what green laning is, so interpreting as off road?)
