Forks won't extend all the way out

Recommended Posts

I had to replace my fork seals so I did all that and bled the air out but once I bleed the air out the forks don't extend all the way out. I don't know much about forks so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

Are you talking about bleeding the air out of the damper or the whole fork, and are the forks totally assembled and off the bike and they won't top out on their own? Is there alot of stiction through out the whole stroke? If so you could have the bushing thats just under the seal cocked slightly or when sliding the forks apart you could have damaged that bushing causing the stiction.

And what type of seals did you use? some can cause more stiction then others, many say stock Honda are the best.

air forks on the newer bikes have a top out spring which prevents them from topping out.

When you pressurize the forks they will position themselves correctly
