Tire Question

Recommended Posts

I have an 06 525 EXC that I am wanting to put on the street. Is there any reason I can't or shouldn't go with a 120/80x18 rear tire since there is little to no selection for 110/100x18 as far as DOT tires, specifically 80/20 street/dirt tires. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Guys!

I didn't think so, but figured I would double check with some knowledgeable folks before spending the money.

Depends on the tire. Each has a different width, even if the width profile is indicated the same. My 110/100 rubs on the muffler pretty good, I couldn't imagine a 120 on there.

As someone tire shopping right now, I found a pretty good selection of Metzeler, Pirelli and Kenda's that are DOT, 110/100.

The extra height and/or width is not something I'm interested in gaining, but that's just me.

My 110/100x18 doesnt rub, I'm looking at the shinko 705. Something pretty street oriented but will handle the dirt roads on the way to work and around the area.
