90 dr 350 kickstarter

i have a 90 dr kick start wont return and when bike runs it sounds like the kickstart is still engauged makeing the sound when you hold it down when its running ??? anyone had this issue before

Kick start shaft spring might be broken. This returns the kickstart to normal position. I would crack the clutch cover and check the spring before riding, a loose piece could tear things up.

 

Had this happen on my '90 too - opened it up and the oil pump driven gear had all 35 teeth shredded off and floating around the case. I wouldn't mess with the chance of that spring shearing off in your engine...
