First Bike Options

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I want to by my first bike and have no riding experience whatsoever. I live in Ontario and am searching local classifieds for a small two stroke like a cr80.

This is where I need your help as I have a lack of experience with this stuff and I want to pick the bike that is the most worth it out of the bunch.

Here are the classifieds:

2001 CR80 $1400----------------------->>>      http://www.kijiji.ca/v-dirt-bikes-motocross/mississauga-peel-region/2001-honda-cr-80/599436031?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

1997 yz80 $1300------------------------>>>> http://www.kijiji.ca/v-dirt-bikes-motocross/barrie/1997-yamaha-yz-not-used-last-10-years-prof-stored-indoors/586599174?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

I'd really appreciate the help. Obviously money is restricting so cheaper is always better. Some bikes are said to be rebuilt and some have after market parts and since I am not up to date with this stuff I have no clue what is the best deal. If you could list the top 3 of the bunch I would be very thankful. Thanks again

John

If you are a first time rider, an 80 is probably your best choice. I would go with the 2006 CR85 it looks good. A brake won't cost much to get done either. The 125 is probably too big

Are you sure you want a two stroke? Will you be racing with it, or just trails and thrashing around? It all depends on what kind of riding style you are doing and how big you are

2 strokes are cheaper and in my budget and easier to fix. The bike would be used for trail riding. I am small at 5'5 and 135lbs

cr85s are a lot here. Nothing below $1600 and that is much over what I really want to spend.

That yz is what I would be buying. The late 90s early 2000s the yz were considered the best 2 strokes by quite a bit. My friend bought a 2001 yz 85 and it was pretty beat up, and all he has had to do was a top end, which is expected pretty much every year for 2 strokes. Did you ask him why it was sitting for 10 years and he didn't sell it? Seems fishy.........
