just picked up a '05 250exc. it's a blast, but definitely a "stand up" bike. not sure why, you just don't feel like you want to sit down. I think it has to do with the ergonomics, it's not tiring.

nice low end for a 2T and has pretty good "hit". went on a 30+ miles trail ride with good mix of technical uphills and fast trails, single tracks and at no time did I feel like it didn't have enough power. the air filter was a bit clogged so it was a little sputtery in the low/mid end. starts first kick 99% of the time. overall a nice package. if you want brute power, however, a yz250 2stroke or a 300exc is probably a better choice or something like a ktm 360exc (older) or kx500/cr500.

I think it's a keeper for me; I plan to race enduro with it this fall, maybe some hare scrambles,  i.e. I don't do MX.

the 250exc can be converted into a 300exc, by just swapping out the top-end. everything else is the same.

BTW, in the US exc was the 2T until '05 and then changed to xcw until now.

The 200 can pull 250f's no worries if you get the power down.

Maximum power would be the 300 though, its a low end grunta. The 200 responds well to being ridden like a 125, but can still tractor up hills etc when you need it to play nice.

Me looking squidly on my road regoed 200EXC, this pic is taken from go pro footage lol.
