So I narrowed down my local classifieds for what I think are the best bikes for me, a beginner rider who is pretty small

I'd keep looking for a newer 85 or 100. I don't know about where you are, but in Maine you can find some nice mini bikes for 1000-1200. I bought my old 06 kx100 in very good shape for 1100.

Thank you very much. I am in Ontario and bikes are pretty expensive. I guess I'll keep looking for a kx100 or cr85.should. But all these bikes are $1500 and up.

I can get this CR80 with rebuilt suspension/top/bottom for $1350

...which is exactly what you want. With few exceptions, lots of aftermarket parts equal lots of hours. And on even a perfectly repaired and maintained bike (which most are far from) lots of hours equal lots of breakdowns. Stick with low hour, original bike rather than a modded one. You'll get to ride more.
