KTM Freeride E (Full Electric Bike)

Recommended Posts

Just saw this video awhile back and was wondering if anyone had seen it?

Basically, KTM is prototyping an all electric bike.  It sounds funny but seems like it could be a fun play bike to have.  So far the battery only lasts about an hour but they claim it can crank out upwards of 22 kW (equivalent if 30hp) with a continuous supply of 7.5kW (10hp).

What do you all think of this direction in riding?

KTM has shelved their electric bike project indefinitely.

Seriously? I was under the impression they had already brought the thing to market...

Hmmmm.......oh well, long live the 2 stroke!!!!!

I imagine that these bikes ate quite a bit lighter, or if anything, have a much lower center of gravity, so I could see them being a fun bike to jump or do tricks on.  Not sure they could last very long out on the dunes but for trail or desert riding I could see them being a popular item. Slap on some solar panels and your bike could be charging while you take a break! haha

There was a freeride that placed in the 20s ( I think) in the Erzberg.

I'm pretty sure it was not the electric Freeride, it was the the 350 (4-stroke) or the 250 (2-stroke), I cannot remember which one.
