05 Honda crf 450 help changing tranny oil

I just bot a 05 crf 450 and trying to figure out how to change the right side tranny oil. Any help will be appreciated

The drain bolt is hiding behind your shifter peg.

Ok so do u have to tilt the bike on its side to get it all out cuz I that if u left it upright it would just drain it to the fill mark?

I just let it drain till it stops and then tilt the bike over and hold it there while the rest drains out. Most of the oil comes out with the bike upright.

save yourself a WORLD of pain.. do NOT overtighten these drain bolts. You could likely end up needing a new case half if you do, especially if you tear up the trans side threads. DO NOT use a torque wrench and the manual spec, just give it a gentle "snug" with a small ratchet. DOn't mess about with the check hole either. Just pour in 700ml or so each side every time and you are good.

 

ps: do buy a manual.. it will otherwise save you a ton of time, and money.
