counter shaft seal replacement

Recommended Posts

i have a small leak from the counter shaft on my 05 crf250r and was wondering if anybody has changed one and could offer some advice. i havent tried doing anything yet and first im gonna clean it with a toothbrush and see if that works because ive heard it has helped others before. if that doesn't work i will change it and have never done one. All help is appreciated.

It's quite simple to replace. Remove the sprocket and with a pair of channel lock pliers pull the countershaft collar straight out. There is a d-ring seal that sits behind the collar, make sure you don't lose it. Pull out the old seal, clean the case surface and install the new seal. That’s it!
