2007 crf250r valve shim questions?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys...I purchased a 2007 crf250r a few weeks ago pretty cheap and needing some work. I put a new top end, valve job, and all kind of other goodies myself. I put the pro x SS intake valves/springs in it. The reason I did a valve job of course is because both intakes were close to being zeroed out.. well after I did the valve job I am getting these clearances. My exhaust are within specs.

Left intake: .0025 in/.063 mm

Right intake: .003 in/.076 mm

I need .005 in/.127 mm

The question is, what is the math I need to do in order to get correct shim sizes? I have searched and searched and getting blurred answers. I am new to shimming 4 strokes..Do I just subtract the clearance I have now with what clearance I need in order to get the shim size? I am stumped! Thanks.

Yeah. The size will be stamped or scribed onto the shim. If it's wore off use a digital calliper.
