Crf250 rolling coal

Recommended Posts

My 2004 crf 250 tends to puff black smoke when I start it cold and rev it a bit and I don't know if it is a fuel delivery issue but I'm thinkin of buying a 2008 carb off my buddies parts bike would it solve this smoke?

No.

Don't guess.

You should not rev the motor when it's cold

Black smoke is un-burn fuel

It could be a float height that is too high, but....

You most likely need head work, not a new carb: the intake valves are the first to leak on that motor

I would adjust the valves, and see if that helps, but most likely you need a valve job

If the valves are not way out of spec after shimming them, clean the ENTIRE carb
