all apart........used homemade tool of all thread with a metric nut welded on the all thread............and a broom handle jammed in the dampning rod ( no pics of either ) 

 

 

i swear the nasty black oil that i drained out of these forks was from 1986 !

reassembly......inner fork bushing installed on upper fork leg (  not shown ) ......dampning rod with top out spring goes into upper fork leg.....then inserted into lower fork leg and bottom allen bolt tightened

the original yellow fork boots were very nasty.............got the black ones and was happy......when i did this rebuild i found out that the boots were trapping water on top on the dust seal causing the seal circlip to rust.......gotta find some better boots
