2001 yz250f crankcase same with 2004 yz250f crankcase?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm new in this forum and I'm from Malaysia. Pardon my poor English  :(

I just recently bought 2004 yz250f. No problem with the engine. However this past weekend when I'm trying to change my oil filter, I snap oil filter screw. Made thing worst, I try to drill the screw and end up making a hole at my right crankcase  :banghead:

Now, I need to split my crankcase and change right crankcase. So I have a few question:

1. Can 2001 crankcase fit to my 2004? because I'm only found 2001 crankcase on ebay

2. If no, what year of crankcase I can fit to my 2004 yz250f? or I dont have no choice but find only 2004 crankcase?

3. While I'm splitting my crankcase, what part do I need? I have list down here, please enlighten me

     - OEM complete gasket seal (I believe OEM complete gasket set will include oil seal & o ring I need?)

     - crankshaft bearing & seals

     - oem cam chain

Thanks guy in advance

while i can't answer this question definitively. you may try and see if the 2 part numbers from both years match up by finding a parts fiche online.

Your english is fine!

I have made some research. Look like 2003,2004 & 2005 shared same part no for crankcase 5XC-15100-09-YX . But I noticed they sell a set which mean right and left crankcase. Is this mean I need to buy a set? Or can I just buy right crankcase?

I think I found 2003 right crankcase for usd125 on ebay.

What should I change while I'm splitting the case?
