Ride Reports (CRF250L/M)

Hey Neilly, thanks for the reply, I use muc-off and it works pretty good but I’m struggling to get the mud off from the front of the engine and the exhaust! It’s driving me crazy! I thinking of investing in a power washer but worry about bearings etc.
Where to people stand on rust inhibitors??
im using muc-off MO96 I think it’s called and spray over the metal work after a clean.

I wouldn't use a power washer, it will blow past seals and get into bearings. My exhaust header is stainless, so a wire wool pad soaked in kerosene sorts that out, and normally a stiff brush with kerosene sorts out the engine.

Luckily we don't have winter, or salt on the roads to contend with here ☺️...when I did live back there I used to use Shell Ensis DW 2455 oil...spray it on at the beginning of winter and wash it off at the end. When I was doing enduro's I just used to give the bike a good coating of WD40 before the race and wash all the crud off afterwards.

I did find some stuff here to protect the wheels on my truck when I used to leave it parked up for a few months at a time...it did work, but not as well as the Ensis fluid

Just finished a 5 day adventure ride covering a little over 1000 miles on my 2014 250L.  Rode from the Keweenaw Peninsula in the UP of Michigan along the shore of superior up to Grand Portage Minnesota and back.  I mainly ride my bike in the UP on more technical double and single track so this was my first experience fully loaded with gear for a multiple day adventure.  Have to say I was a little nervous when heading out that the 250 would do it but I came back more in love with the bike than ever.

Me and mini-xHECKx took an afternoon up Rockpile Trail to the cliff overlooking Beavers Bend, then East across to Arkansas. Public trails have nearly gone extinct here in SE Oklahoma, better see it before it's gone.

these are from the South island of New zealand   the first picture from the "black forest " road looking down onto Benmore hydro dam and the other  at the top of "island saddle" on the rainbow road from Hamner springs to st arnaud. if in doubt where these are google nz topomap. both follow the main power lines supplying the north island from the souths hydro power plants, they go thru private land and are toll roads so pay as you go.for those interested there are a few videos on youtube regarding both of these popular adventure routes in New Zealand

regards to all

Here’s one of my favorite local rides. I did Wash Creek road off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Arden, NC. Wash Creek is a 11 mile trek from the Parkway down to North Mills River campground. From there, you’re in the Pisgah National Forest and the options are limitless. Plenty of country roads following trout streams. Excellent day trip or overnight if you’re in the area.
