Stock 300 compared to Johnny Walkers Factory setup.

Recommended Posts

The biggest difference between the stock bikes and the factory bikes is and has always been the amount of attention the bikes get from the mechanics. If you want a bike like the factory bikes you can get all the SXS parts from KTM but nothing will replace spending 40 hours a week tearing your bike down and rebuilding it. Not to mention all the time the riders spend testing bike set up and jetting. It makes a huge difference.

They mentioned he is running the XC gearbox.

I didn't catch what forks he's using though?

4cs?

Nope, cone forks.

I was really surprised to hear he was running the stock pipe... I destroyed that thing in a single day, riding not nearly as rocky of terrain.

I'm willing to bet that he is not still on his first pipe...

Pretty sure Johnny's bike has it but it's the stock bike they are comparing it too that is missing the head mount

After watching the video again, nothing is remotely close to stock...

Works fork, shock, brakes, triple clamps, transmission, decals etc etc....

While there are a number of 'Works' components, the base is a retail version. The forks, shock, and brakes are the primary "you need to be someone to get", other parts like the foot pegs, triple clamps and transmission can be purchased by anyone.

I know the video is implying that Walker's bike is basically the same as the stock EXC (in Europe), it will require a additional chunk of cash to make it closer, and even then will never be there until you finish in the top 5 of Erzberg or Romaniacs.
